While functioning mostly as a safety for Spinergy Arts, Mattress has many other skills. He can eat fire, breathe fire and swing around a mean fire sword. Mattress also builds fire concept equipment for Spinergy Arts and regularly works to develop and produce equipment both classic and new. He has safetied for most Spinergy Arts events, Burning Man 2005 and 2006, and Winter Solstice 2004 and 2005. He also does full on piercing performance including suspensions, body spears, play piercings, weight suspensions, and the human crazy straw. He has been doing piercing performance since 2003 and has been fully trained in every aspect of performance piercing. He was one of the founding members of PURE (People Undergoing Real Experiences) where he started as a performer, then worked his way up into becoming a piercing and rigging technician and leader of their "Suspension Ring". During his second tenure as head technician in PURE's new incarnation he helped train some of their piercing and suspension artists and helped create a full inventory of piercing supplies and suspension gear for their group. In addition to piercing / suspension he also does live rope bondage suspension. He has the "worlds only" gold plated "Bling'n" bed of nails which he uses for freak show style performances. He was a founding member of Carnival Reverie and functioned as the construction and set design lead for the second and third Carnivals. He also was one of two construction leads for the Hometown Gravy series of fundraising events as well as for Danny Deads and Funeral Funhouse. He has been a street performer, amateur clown, actor, booker and has been trained in basic first aid and blood borne pathogens. back to main members page
