When Kysa first saw fire spinning in 2001 she immediately knew she had to learn the skill. She started to teach herself poi skills by searching online for various techniques. In 2003 she met Donia Love, the founder of Ignis Devoco (now Spinergy Arts). She auditioned and became a performer in Ignis Devoco shortly thereafter. In June of 2003 Donia moved to Italy and Kysa became the new director of the troupe. Since then Kysa has worn many hats in Spinergy Arts, including Administrative Director, performer, dance choreographer and costume designer. She performs with various fire tools, including poi, staff, fans, palms, fire eating, drums and more. Kysa has been a drummer for over 17 years, and competed nationally in Drum Corps competitions throughout her high school years. In 2005 she and other members of Spinergy Arts joined the NW conclave to perform with flaming drums at Burning Man. Currently, Kysa is working further on combining both passions- drumming and fire- to create a large scale Flaming Samba Drum Line, which will debut at Burning Man 2006. She is the NW Conclave Shin for Burning Man 2006. At a party you will most likely find Kysa on the dance floor, dancing or hula hooping, always in a costume and always smiling. She loves to crochet. She is on the board for The Wash Festival, an event she and six other friends started in 2004. A main goal in her life is getting communities to come together to create and share skills and ideas, to celebrate life and have fun. back to main members page
